Oh, how I wish Barack Obama would take my phone calls …
I would surely like to follow up on an interview he gave David Brooks of the New York Times in which he stated Hamas and Hezbollah have "legitimate claims" that are being undermined by the terrorist groups' commitment to violence.
My question to the Democratic Party presidential candidate: What are those "legitimate claims" of Hamas and Hezbollah?
Perhaps I won't have to ask directly.
Maybe some enterprising reporter who has access to the anointed one will find the chutzpah to ask the obvious question.
Then Obama might get a chance to elaborate on what he believes are "the root causes of problems and dangers" currently being unaddressed by U.S. foreign policy.
But I for one would really like to know which of the claims of Hamas and Hezbollah are "legitimate" in the eyes of Barack Obama. I think it's a very important question.
Is it Hamas' belief that the U.S. Rotary and Lions Clubs are secret societies doing the bidding of the International Zionist Conspiracy?
Is it Hamas' institutionalized anti-Semitic strain that runs throughout Hamas ideology, including its charter, which doesn't just call for the destruction of Israel, but for the killing of all Jews?
Is it Hezbollah's view that Israel represents the vanguard of the United States of America in the Middle East – "the hated enemy that must be fought until the hated ones get what they deserve"?
Is Barack Obama familiar with the charters of Hezbollah and Hamas?
What is it that he finds redeeming in their claims? What is it he finds legitimate about them?
These are very important questions given the fact that Barack Obama stands a chance of becoming the next president of the United States. These are not questions that can afford to wait. Whether or not Barack Obama will take my calls, he needs to be pushed for clarification of his remarks about these two terrorist organizations.
Did he simply misspeak, again?
Does he really mean what he said?
If he really means what he said, could he amplify on the legitimate claims of the two terrorist groups sworn to the destruction of the Jewish state and Jews in general?
What do you think he meant?
I have to conclude Obama means exactly what he said – that Hezbollah and Hamas are not evil organizations on the basis of their agenda, but merely flawed groups because of their tactics.
I think that's what Obama is saying. I think that's what he means.
So I am challenging him here to explain himself publicly, since he is not likely to answer my personal and professional request for clarification. But I need your help. I need the help of ordinary people who understand the significance of this question. I need the help of my media colleagues who comprehend the profound importance of this matter to Christians, Jews, Americans and Westerners.
Hamas and Hezbollah are fundamentally at war with everything good and decent in the world. They are fundamentally at war with the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. They are fundamentally at war with America.
If a man who may be the next president of the United States doesn't get that, we have a serious problem. If he does get it, we may have an even more serious problem.
