Jane Chastain

Jane Chastain is a co-host with Russ Verney of the "Judicial Watch Report," heard live on the USA Radio network from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Eastern each weekday.

A weekly columnist for WorldNetDaily.com, Chastain is the author of the highly acclaimed book, "I'd Speak Out on the Issues if I Only Knew What to Say" (Regal Books, 1987).

Jane always will be remembered as the nation's first female television sportscaster on both the local and national levels. During her 16 years as a sports reporter and anchor in Atlanta, Raleigh, Miami, Los Angeles and with the CBS network, she broke many journalistic barriers for women. She was the first woman allowed on a major league baseball playing field and was the first woman admitted to the NASCAR pits and garage areas.

She began her career as "Coach Friday," described in the press as "a pulchritudinous, pigskin prognosticator," for WAGA-TV in Atlanta in 1963, but it was at Miami's WTVJ-TV where she earned her reputation as a durable and respected sports reporter and began her network assignments.

She made the jump to national TV in 1973 with "The Jane Chastain Show -- Everything You've Always Wanted to Know About Sports But Were Afraid to Ask," a series of 195 90-second vignettes that were inserted in local news programs in 88 of the nation's top television stations.

CBS made her the nation's first woman network sportscaster in 1974. In 1976, Jane became a sports anchor at KABC-TV in Los Angeles. While at KABC she received the prestigious Eclipse Award, horse racing's highest honor, for her coverage of the thoroughbreds.

In 1978, she struck out on her own and began using her skills as a host, writer and technical consultant for a variety of industrial and documentary films.

Chastain began her political commentaries in 1991, hosting "What Washington Doesn't Want You to Know," a daily radio program.

A dynamic speaker, Jane gets audiences actively involved in many of her speeches in order to illustrate and drive home her points. Among her popular titles: "How the U.N. Is Putting Us Under Its Control," "What We Must Do to End Abortion," "How to Raise Good Citizens from the Ground Up," "Sure-Fire, Can't-Miss Ways to Get the Attention of Your Elected Representatives," "Why Feminism Doesn't Work" and "Following the Money Trail in Washington." Jane also shares her personal testimony and speaks about her career in sports.

Chastain was a member of the Women's Progress Commemoration, created by an act of Congress in 1998. She also serves on the advisory boards of the Family Research Council and ChildCare International. Jane is a pilot with multi-and instrument ratings and lives on a private runway in Southern California.
